Every year I make placemats for Margarita Thanksgiving (which is like regular Thanksgiving with less turkey and more margaritas). This year’s placemat theme was the muppets and their pie obsession.

Ugandan Friends

In the fall of 2017 I went on my first trip to Africa with a group called Fields of Dreams Uganda.  Their mission is to provide hope to the orphaned and vulnerable children of Uganda through the vehicles of soccer and education. We visited schools and I met a lot of amazing children. It was a life-changing trip in many ways. I was touched by the warmth and grace of the Ugandan people.  This sketch is from a meeting with some of the school administrators when we went to Gulu, in northern Uganda. I tried to capture the light and grace of their faces.

Happy Card: I am a Woman of Substance

A few months ago, I traveled to Uganda, where I met some very special kiddos. I think of them every day.  Recently, I made this card for a courageous 14 year old young lady who touched my heart. And last week another very special friend of mine HAND-DELIVERED the card to her and gave her a huge hug on my behalf. Love is the answer.
